Evolving on the Road

I had a very clear vision of what taking Simplify & Summit™ on the road would mean:

Climb mountains.
Travel the world.
Live the explorer life I had always dreamed of.

And at first, that vision felt perfectly on track.

I summited Mount Fuji on a few hours of sleep, jet lagged after a 10-hour flight. I reorganized mountaineering gear in the middle of hectic Narita Airport while my brain screamed, please sleep. Then I completed the Nakahechi route of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage and felt absolutely radiant.

Nepal came next.

I arrived exhausted and happy, but my body was already feeling the toll of the aggressive pace. Mera Peak was fueled by sheer adrenaline.

Then India wrapped me in its kaleidoscope of flavors, colors, sounds, family, new gym friends, and joy.

And then came the 45-hour leap to the other side of the world: South America.

From 90°F heat to winter in Frankfurt, then onward to Mendoza, Argentina. I planned the stop in Germany because one of my personal metrics is simple: I do not deplete my energy by traveling endlessly without a break to stretch, eat a real meal, and reset.

Good system. Smart metric.

But I forgot one thing:

Jet lag also comes with consequences. 😁

Somewhere between cold weather, exhaustion, and the thrill of a massive German outdoor gear store, I left one of our phones behind before boarding the flight to São Paulo. I didn’t realize it until Mendoza, when it was time to check in with family using that very phone.

Argentina brought me so much joy. 🤩

Endless mountains. Jaw-dropping landscapes. Miles and miles of hikes. New shoes after my old ones gave up on me. And one very clear lesson:

The system I built to conquer mountains on every continent was working — but it was also showing me what needed to change.

The biggest flaw?

Luggage.

The allowance I had for mountaineering equipment when I left home was not the same everywhere. Moving four expedition-size duffel bags and two carry-ons across countries became the most obvious sign that my “perfect” plan was only perfect until real life tested it.

And that is exactly where Simplify & Summit™ matters most.

Not when everything goes smoothly.
But when the plan breaks.
When the load is too heavy.
When the schedule collapses.
When your body says, “We need a new strategy.”

I do not want to overstate it, but this is the heart of the system: it helps me stay focused when the unexpected happens.

And somehow, I thrive in the pivot.

My mind is built for change — but not everyone feels that way. That is why I want to share this framework: so if change makes you uneasy, or your path feels uncertain, you can still navigate forward with more ease, clarity, and confidence.

I’ll share my Argentina Era next.

I have to stop saying “soon,” because life on the road has a very creative way of interfering with my perfectly designed schedules.

More to come. 🙂
